Sector Classification
As part of your classification of your clients, you are required to confirm the Sector and Business Activities of your clients.
Ireland, like the rest of the European Union, uses the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Communities to define the different groups. The CSO in Ireland uses the NACE classification and the economy is divided into ten sectors.
- Agriculture forestry and fishing
- Industry
- Construction
- Distribution, transport, hotels and restaurants
- Information and communication
- Financial and insurance activities
- Real estate activities
- Professional, administration and support services
- Public administration, education and health
- Arts, entertainment and other services
The NACE system also provides more detailed classifications. Further information is available on the CSO website: https://www.cso.ie/en/methods/classifications/csodatastandardsandclassifications/csostatisticalclassifications/nace-classificationofeconomicactivities/
